Frequently asked questions

  • Are physiotherapy treatments covered by private insurance plans?
In the vast majority of cases, insurance companies cover the cost of physiotherapy treatment. However, some insurance plans may require a doctor’s prescription before accepting claims. Contact your insurer in advance to find out which services are covered and the terms and conditions required for reimbursement of treatment under your insurance contract.
  • Can I consult a physio without a medical referral?
Since the early 90s, the public has been able to consult a physiotherapist in private practice without a medical referral. If you have been referred by your family doctor or another physician, our physiotherapists work in collaboration with them.
  • Can I consult in a clinic of my choice close to my home?
Has your doctor referred you to a physiotherapy clinic far from your home? Don’t want to waste your time with unnecessary transportation? If it says physio or physiotherapy, we’ll accept your prescription no matter where.
  • Should I consult physio or osteopathy?
Physiotherapists and osteopaths have received approximately 5 years of advanced university-level training to treat your various musculoskeletal problems. You can therefore consult the professional of your choice.
  • How should I dress for a physiotherapy session?
Clothing: It’s best to wear loose, stretchy clothing, opt for shorts, leggings or sports pants and t-shirts. Footwear: Wear comfortable shoes that allow you to perform specific exercises.
  • How does a physiotherapy session work?
The first physiotherapy session consists of an assessment. The physiotherapist or physiotherapy technologist will evaluate your current state of health and review your medical history. He or she will then draw up a treatment plan tailored to your problems and condition, with the aim of improving your condition.
  • What documents should I bring to my first appointment?
We recommend that you bring any relevant reference documents: – Medical prescription – Examination results – Previous exercise programs If you have suffered a work accident (CNESST) : – Worker’s claim form – Medical prescription indicating doctor’s diagnosis and physiotherapy referral. If you have suffered a road accident (SAAQ): – Your claim number – Doctor’s prescription.
  • How many sessions will it take to relieve me and/or solve my problem?
Every individual is different, and so is every injury. The number of sessions varies according to each case. Following your first visit, your therapist will be able to tell you approximately how many appointments you’ll need.
