What is an IPSPL?
Often referred to as the “Super Nurse”, the IPSPL is a nurse who has pursued advanced university studies in order to develop additional medical skills and thus participate in certain medical procedures reserved for doctors.
It is therefore authorized to :
Diagnosis
Prescribing drugs, treatments and medical images
Refer to a specialist
Make an appointment for one of the following situations:
Musculoskeletal problems :
Pain, sprain, etc.
Intra-articular infiltration
Imaging prescription (X-ray, ultrasound)
Minor emergencies :
Cold and flu symptoms
Earache, sinusitis, conjunctivitis
Urinary tract infection
Digestive disorders, constipation, diarrhea
Simple laceration
Pediatric :
Infection in children
Constipation
Abdominal pain
Global health :
Acne
Nail fungus
Smoking Cessation
Sleep apnea
Seasonal allergies
Skin rashes
Oral ulcers
Dizziness
Work stoppage in connection with CNESST
Sexual health:
ITSSD screening update
STBBI in an asymptomatic individual (as a precaution)
Women’s health:
Contraception
Menstrual pain
Some cases cannot be handled by our IPSPL
Anything that requires follow-up:
Pregnancy follow-up
Monitoring of chronic diseases such as :
– Diabetes
– Cholesterol
– High blood pressure
– Heart disease
– Lung diseases
– Etc.
All severe symptoms that indicate an immediate risk to :
Life
A vital organ
Or involving a worsening of the situation if care is not taken quickly
