Training

The osteopath working at Physio Multiservices has basic training in the health sciences. He or she is also a graduate of a recognized school of osteopathy, such as the Collège d’ostéopathie (CEO), the Centre ostéopathique du Québec (COQ) or ENOSI école d’ostéopathie. Osteopathic training lasts approximately 5 years.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an exclusively manual approach whose aim is to restore the functionality of all the structures and systems of the human body in order to promote its capacity for self-regulation.

Its technical expertise is based on in-depth knowledge of the health sciences and the interactions involved in balancing the body (homeostasis).

Fine, precise palpation enables us to carry out a comprehensive, global assessment of the cause of neuro-musculo-skeletal, visceral and cranial dysfunctions.

What does osteopathy treat?

In clinical practice, osteopaths use precise manual adjustment techniques to restore optimal mobility to bones, muscles, fascia, nerves and organs. This mobility restores balance to the body and relieves the patient’s symptoms.

At all times, when the patient’s condition requires it, the osteopath will not hesitate to refer him or her to another health professional.

Who is osteopathy for?

  • Newborn
Osteopathy helps the still supple and malleable body of newborns by acting on the stresses the baby has undergone during pregnancy and childbirth. It helps the baby to overcome difficulties in swallowing or breathing, tummy aches, crying spells, earaches, problems with a flat head or one that always turns to the same side.
  • Children aged 3 to 7
Young children are at the age of discovery. Osteopathy assists them and ensures their healthy growth, enabling their bodies to live and move without problems. After a big fall, a bout of flu, neck, knee or other pain, joint pain or teething problems, the osteopath works gently to relieve the sore areas. As a result, young people can move and grow without suffering.
  • Children aged 8 to 12
During this period, children spend time in many different environments: school, friends’ homes, recreational areas. Their lives extend beyond the reassuring confines of the home. By correcting imbalances, osteopathy encourages their bodies to find a healthy, adapted rhythm. Better in body, children will find it easier to calm down, concentrate, sleep and… have fun!
  • Teenagers aged 13 to 18
Adolescence is a time of transformation, with many changes affecting the young person and those around them. Osteopathy facilitates the body’s adaptation during this demanding age when the child becomes an adult. By checking the state of the body’s systems (circulatory, nervous, hormonal), she helps to alleviate excess pain, fatigue, stress, hormones or anger.
  • Adults aged 19 to 64
The challenges of adulthood are many: in addition to the pursuit of personal projects, there are responsibilities, obligations and unforeseen events. Daily adaptation overloads the body, which, overwhelmed by events, becomes vulnerable. Osteopathy helps by restoring the condition of neglected areas, such as the back, head (nerves), limbs and digestive system. Osteopathic work enables the person to regain better balance and optimal functioning.
  • Seniors
The aging of the body is a normal process. The weight of years and fatigue accumulate. The wear and tear of its systems makes it more vulnerable to the elements: flu, bronchitis and other aches and pains are more frequent, joints move poorly, and so on. Osteopathy helps the body adapt better by promoting healing, relieving pain, restoring balance and boosting immunity. So many ways to help you enjoy your golden years.
  • Sports
Physical activities benefit from being carried out correctly, otherwise the risk of injury increases. A seasoned osteopath can identify imbalances and guide the athlete towards resolution. Among other things, he can relieve discomfort in muscles and tendons.
  • Convalescence and rehabilitation
Recovering from a serious injury or major surgery can destabilize the body and cause it to lose its bearings. Using gentle, precise manipulations, the osteopath restores the body’s healthy references to help it live better with these changes.
  • Pregnancy and post-natal care
During pregnancy and after childbirth, a woman’s body undergoes many rapid and significant changes. To help women make the most of this experience, osteopathy helps to prepare the body for childbirth, offering treatments before, during and after to ensure the well-being and flexibility of the pelvis and spine, and to improve breathing. It also addresses concerns about the impact of pregnancy on the woman’s body.
