Other physiotherapy services:

  • Physiotherapy for running
Physiotherapists offer injury prevention and treatment, global assessment, biomechanical, running pattern and shoe analysis, as well as basic preventive advice to runners. The sports physio component of the clinic goes even further. The firm joins forces with the Au Rythme de nos foulées race in Châteauguay and the Défi X-Training in Beauharnois to provide support and expertise to athletes.
  • Perineal rehabilitation
Perineal reeducation can help! There are some ailments that aren’t easy to talk about, even to your doctor. For many women, urinary incontinence is one of them. These problems arise when the pelvic floor muscles stop working properly.

Perineal re-education aims to re-learn the correct use of the perineal muscles and strengthen weakened pelvic floor muscles.
  • Radial shockwave therapy
Our physiotherapists use radial shockwave therapy to reduce pain caused by chronic conditions such as chronic shoulder tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, epicondylitis, Achilles tendon tendinopathy, patellar tendon tendinopathy and other chronic conditions. Treatments are spread over 3 to 4 sessions, 1 week apart. Post-treatment telephone follow-up will be carried out by the physiotherapist responsible for the patient.
  • Needles under the dermis
The use of needles under the dermis is an increasingly popular technique in the world of physiotherapy. This method is a supplement to the other techniques used by a physiotherapist during conventional treatment. It involves the insertion of needles without the injection of liquid. The effectiveness of this technique depends on a number of factors. For example, the insertion of a dry needle creates small lesions that reactivate surrounding tissue repair. It can also enable the physiotherapist to deactivate trigger points in the musculature, and create an analgesic effect in the treated area. This technique is indicated for all musculoskeletal problems, such as migraines, neck, back and lumbar pain and/or sprains, tendonitis, chronic pain, etc. It’s important to note that this technique is distinct from acupuncture, since the latter is based on Chinese medicine and meridian concepts. Physiotherapeutic puncture is limited to local treatment of the affected area.
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
Did you know that your temporomandibular joint (jaw) can benefit from the services of a physiotherapist just like any other joint in the body? Jaw pain or locking (difficulty opening your mouth) are examples of problems that may lead you to consult a physiotherapist. A problem with the temporomandibular joint can also cause headaches, neck pain, difficulty chewing and so on.

The physiotherapist will assess your condition and establish an appropriate treatment plan with you. Treatment may include manual therapy, muscle relaxation, exercise instruction or electrotherapy, depending on your condition. Don’t hesitate to consult a physiotherapy professional for your jaw problem!
  • Manual therapy
Orthopedic manual therapy is a physiotherapy treatment modality. It includes manual techniques (soft-tissue techniques, mobilizations and/or manipulations) as well as therapeutic exercises, with the aim of restoring mobility, function and pain. It’s an individualized therapeutic approach that takes into account the physiotherapist’s assessment of your condition and recognized evidence.
  • CNESST & SAAQ
    Work accident (CNESST formerly CSST)
Following a work-related accident, you need to see a doctor. If your doctor refers you to physiotherapy, he or she will give you a prescription. All you have to do is contact us or come to one of our clinics with this prescription, and we’ll take care of the rest. Our customer service representative will take the necessary steps with the CNESST, and you’ll be able to start your treatment as soon as possible. The CNESST assumes the costs and pays the clinic directly for your care.
    Road accident (SAAQ)
Following a road accident, you need to see a doctor. If your doctor refers you to physiotherapy, he or she will give you a prescription. Simply bring this prescription to one of our clinics, and we’ll forward the request to the SAAQ. When the request is accepted, you don’t have to pay for your physiotherapy treatments, since the SAAQ pays the clinic directly.
  • Sports coverage
Physio Multiservices specializes in the evaluation, rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries by offering a complete range of physical rehabilitation services. Our mobile unit enables us to offer services directly on site at sporting events.
  • Sports physiotherapy
Physio Multiservices clinics are renowned for the effectiveness of their treatments and the results they deliver. Thanks to our 13 clinics located in Châteauguay, Mercier, Beauharnois, Sainte-Catherine, Quartier Dix30, Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Saint-Amable, Ormstown and Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, we can guarantee the highest standards of care. Specialized for over 20 years in physiotherapy for athletes and sportspeople, our clinics offer a full range of services, including physiotherapy, shockwave therapy, osteopathy, sports and therapeutic massage and acupuncture.
  • Vestibular rehabilitation (vertigo)
Vertigo is the most common symptom of a vestibular disorder. Vertigo is a sensation of movement, of the environment or of the person. About one person in seven seems to have experienced vertigo at some time in his or her life. Vertigo is often experienced as an emergency by those who suffer from it, whereas in the vast majority of cases, vertigo is a benign manifestation. Generally triggered by a change in head position, vertigo is brief and can lead to nausea and vomiting. Vertigo corresponds to an anomaly in the regulation of the vestibular system, the part of the inner ear involved in balance and posture. In physiotherapy, your professional will assess your condition using a detailed questionnaire and a series of positioning tests/maneuvers. A personalized treatment plan will then be drawn up. In most cases, this will include vestibular rehabilitation.

The athletic therapist has a 3-year university education leading to a bachelor’s degree in athletic therapy. The CATA, the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association, oversees the certification process for accredited athletic therapists across the country. In addition to completing a bachelor’s degree, athletic therapists must complete the athletic therapy program at one of the eight CATA-accredited institutions in Canada, including practical field and clinical training. Candidates must hold a valid first responder certificate and, upon graduation, pass the national certification exam.

What is sports therapy?

Athletic therapists adhere to the sports medicine model of care. They treat a wide variety of patients, from children with concussions to the elderly who have undergone hip surgery. They use a variety of manual therapies, modalities and recommended exercises, as well as strengthening techniques and restrictive or proprioceptive taping. Treatments vary, but the goal of an athletic therapist remains the same: to help the patient return to his or her usual activities, whether that’s participating in competitive sports or walking to the mailbox.

Certified Athletic Therapists are recognized for their rapid intervention on the field and for the emergency care they provide to professional and elite athletes. First responders when someone is injured, they are experts at diagnosing an injury and treating it. It’s this combination of on-field care and active rehabilitation skills that enables athletic therapists to effectively treat musculoskeletal (muscle, bone and joint) injuries for all Canadians, both on the field and in the clinic.

This service is an alternative to the sessions that can be offered in a training room supervised by a kinesiologist. The main aim of this service is to gradually reactivate the person and improve his or her overall physical capabilities before starting a PDCF.

  • Are physiotherapy treatments covered by private insurance plans?
In the vast majority of cases, insurance companies cover the cost of physiotherapy treatment. However, some insurance plans may require a doctor’s prescription before accepting claims. Contact your insurer in advance to find out which services are covered and the terms and conditions required for reimbursement of treatment under your insurance contract.
  • Can I consult a physiotherapist without a medical referral?
Since the early 90s, the public has been able to consult a physiotherapist in private practice without a medical referral. If you have been referred by your family doctor or another physician, our physiotherapists work in collaboration with them.
  • Can I consult at a clinic of my choice near my home?
Has your doctor referred you to a physiotherapy clinic far from your home? Don’t want to waste your time with unnecessary transportation? If it says physio or physiotherapy, we’ll accept your prescription no matter where.
  • Should I seek physiotherapy or osteopathy?
Physiotherapists and osteopaths have received approximately 5 years of advanced university-level training to treat your various musculoskeletal problems. You can therefore consult the professional of your choice.
  • How should I dress for a physiotherapy session?
Clothing: It’s best to wear loose, stretchy clothing, opt for shorts, leggings or sports pants and t-shirts. Footwear: Wear comfortable shoes that allow you to perform specific exercises.
  • How does a physiotherapy session work?
The first physiotherapy session consists of an assessment. The physiotherapist or physiotherapy technologist will evaluate your current state of health and review your medical history. He or she will then draw up a treatment plan tailored to your problems and condition, with the aim of improving your condition.
  • What documents should I bring to my first appointment?
We recommend that you bring any relevant reference documents: – Medical prescription – Examination results – Previous exercise programs If you have suffered a work accident (CNESST) : – Worker’s claim form – Medical prescription indicating doctor’s diagnosis and physiotherapy referral. If you have suffered a road accident (SAAQ): – Your claim number – Doctor’s prescription.
  • How many sessions will it take to relieve me and/or solve my problem?
Every individual is different, and so is every injury. The number of sessions varies according to each case. Following your first visit, your therapist will be able to tell you approximately how many appointments you’ll need.

Adaptation required

Given the current situation, Physio Multiservices has decided to continue offering you the services of its physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy professionals in the comfort and security of your own home.

Training

The osteopath working at Physio Multiservices has basic training in the health sciences. He or she is also a graduate of a recognized school of osteopathy, such as the Collège d’ostéopathie (CEO), the Centre ostéopathique du Québec (COQ) or ENOSI école d’ostéopathie. Osteopathic training lasts approximately 5 years.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an exclusively manual approach whose aim is to restore the functionality of all the structures and systems of the human body in order to promote its capacity for self-regulation.

Its technical expertise is based on in-depth knowledge of the health sciences and the interactions involved in balancing the body (homeostasis).

Fine, precise palpation enables us to carry out a comprehensive, global assessment of the cause of neuro-musculo-skeletal, visceral and cranial dysfunctions.

What does osteopathy treat?

In clinical practice, osteopaths use precise manual adjustment techniques to restore optimal mobility to bones, muscles, fascia, nerves and organs. This mobility restores balance to the body and relieves the patient’s symptoms.

At all times, when the patient’s condition requires it, the osteopath will not hesitate to refer him or her to another health professional.

Who is osteopathy for?

  • Newborn
Osteopathy helps the still supple and malleable body of newborns by acting on the stresses the baby has undergone during pregnancy and childbirth. It helps the baby to overcome difficulties in swallowing or breathing, tummy aches, crying spells, earaches, problems with a flat head or one that always turns to the same side.
  • Children aged 3 to 7
Young children are at the age of discovery. Osteopathy assists them and ensures their healthy growth, enabling their bodies to live and move without problems. After a big fall, a bout of flu, neck, knee or other pain, joint pain or teething problems, the osteopath works gently to relieve the sore areas. As a result, young people can move and grow without suffering.
  • Children aged 8 to 12
During this period, children spend time in many different environments: school, friends’ homes, recreational areas. Their lives extend beyond the reassuring confines of the home. By correcting imbalances, osteopathy encourages their bodies to find a healthy, adapted rhythm. Better in body, children will find it easier to calm down, concentrate, sleep and… have fun!
  • Teenagers aged 13 to 18
Adolescence is a time of transformation, with many changes affecting the young person and those around them. Osteopathy facilitates the body’s adaptation during this demanding age when the child becomes an adult. By checking the state of the body’s systems (circulatory, nervous, hormonal), she helps to alleviate excess pain, fatigue, stress, hormones or anger.
  • Adults aged 19 to 64
The challenges of adulthood are many: in addition to the pursuit of personal projects, there are responsibilities, obligations and unforeseen events. Daily adaptation overloads the body, which, overwhelmed by events, becomes vulnerable. Osteopathy helps by restoring the condition of neglected areas, such as the back, head (nerves), limbs and digestive system. Osteopathic work enables the person to regain better balance and optimal functioning.
  • Seniors
The aging of the body is a normal process. The weight of years and fatigue accumulate. The wear and tear of its systems makes it more vulnerable to the elements: flu, bronchitis and other aches and pains are more frequent, joints move poorly, and so on. Osteopathy helps the body adapt better by promoting healing, relieving pain, restoring balance and boosting immunity. So many ways to help you enjoy your golden years.
  • Sports
Physical activities benefit from being carried out correctly, otherwise the risk of injury increases. A seasoned osteopath can identify imbalances and guide the athlete towards resolution. Among other things, he can relieve discomfort in muscles and tendons.
  • Convalescence and rehabilitation
Recovering from a serious injury or major surgery can destabilize the body and cause it to lose its bearings. Using gentle, precise manipulations, the osteopath restores the body’s healthy references to help it live better with these changes.
  • Pregnancy and post-natal care
During pregnancy and after childbirth, a woman’s body undergoes many rapid and significant changes. To help women make the most of this experience, osteopathy helps to prepare the body for childbirth, offering treatments before, during and after to ensure the well-being and flexibility of the pelvis and spine, and to improve breathing. It also addresses concerns about the impact of pregnancy on the woman’s body.

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is a set of complementary manual techniques framed by educational intervention processes. It also aims to promote health.

  • The benefits
Depending on the technique or approach used, massage therapy can have a wide range of benefits, particularly in terms of structure and posture, body function and sensory and psychomotor development.
  • The techniques
The most common techniques are Swedish massage, sports massage and shiatsu. Ask the clinic of your choice about the approaches practiced by our massage therapists.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the disciplines of Traditional Medicine
. In Quebec, the Loi sur l’acupuncture defines it as “a

relieve pain”.

What does acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture treats the patient … by supporting or stimulating the living organism itself, inviting it, pushing it, slowing it down, helping it to adapt and regain its balance, enabling it, as far as possible, to repair itself.

Acupuncture treatment involves implanting and manipulating fine needles in specific areas of the skin, mucous membranes or subcutaneous tissues of the human body, known as acupuncture points. In addition to the needle, the acupuncturist may use heat, pressure, electric current or light rays during this stimulation.“” (From the Ordre des Acupuncteurs du Québec website)

What does occupational therapy treat?

At Physio Multiservices, our occupational therapists assess the impact of physical health problems (lumbar sprain, shoulder tendinitis, knee surgery, etc.) and/or mental health problems (depression, post-traumatic stress, burnout, etc.) on their patients “function. They also assess their patients” level of autonomy in carrying out activities (work, hygiene, dressing, eating, etc.). The occupational therapist then draws up a treatment plan aimed at improving the patient’s autonomy and/or abilities.

How does an occupational therapy session work?

The occupational therapist will work with the patient to achieve the objectives established with him/her, using functional activities that reproduce everyday life and/or work situations.

Occupational therapists can assess and treat patients who have suffered a work-related accident (CNESST), a road accident (SAAQ), an injury at home or following surgery, etc.

We also offer occupational therapy services for workstation and home assessments.

  • Assessment of functional and work capacities
The functional and work capacity evaluation is highly recommended for paying agents who wish to determine whether their client currently has the optimal functional and work capacity to return to pre-injury employment. This is the most comprehensive and accurate assessment available. A typical assessment includes a history of the injured worker, his or her occupational performance, the requirements of the pre-injury job, the worker’s current capabilities, the obstacles to returning to work, and an analysis of the assessment and its recommendations. The purpose of this assessment is generally to determine whether a functional skills development program can be initiated, or to identify possible alternatives.
  • Assessment of rehabilitation potential
The Rehabilitation Potential Assessment is strongly recommended to the paying agent wishing to determine whether his or her client currently has sufficient capacity to begin a functional capacity development program. It is appreciated by some paying agents, as it can be carried out without a medical prescription, in the absence of a prescription for an assessment of the worker’s functional capabilities. This assessment is also recommended for all beneficiaries who were not actually employed at the time of their accident. The purpose of this assessment is generally to determine whether a functional abilities development program can be started, or to find out about possible alternatives.
  • Development of functional and working skills
The PDCF (Programme de développement de capacités fonctionnelles (et de travail) or PDCFT) is a program offered to workers who have reached a therapeutic plateau in conventional treatments, but who have sufficient rehabilitation potential to start a more intensive program to improve their abilities, particularly their work capabilities. The professionals involved in the PDCF are determined according to the needs of the worker targeted during the assessment of his or her rehabilitation potential or the evaluation of his or her functional capacities prior to this program. Our multidisciplinary team includes an occupational therapist, physiotherapists, a psychologist and a physical rehabilitation therapist using a kinesiology approach. Some conventional treatments, such as acupuncture, osteopathy, massage therapy or chiropractic, can be pursued in conjunction with PDCF.

Physiotherapists have a 4-year university education leading to a Master’s degree in physiotherapy. To practice in Quebec, a physiotherapist must be a member of the Ordre de la physiothérapie du Québec. All our physiotherapy professionals are members of theOrdre de la physiothérapie du Québec .

What does physiotherapy treat?

At Physio Multiservices, our physiotherapy professionals are involved in the prevention, assessment and treatment of injuries and/or diseases affecting muscles, joints, bones and the neurological system, such as sprains, tendinopathies, herniated discs, post-operative follow-up or post-immobilization plaster casts, etc. We help patients who have suffered work-related accidents (CNESST), road accidents (SAAQ), injuries sustained at home or while playing sports, surgery, etc.

Simply bring this prescription to one of our clinics, and we’ll forward the request to the SAAQ. When the request is accepted, you don’t have to pay for your physiotherapy treatments, since the SAAQ pays the clinic directly.
